|
October 23, 2007 – Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) has announced the launch of the ADB-5810WX set-top box for North America, a high-definition capable hybrid Digital Video Recorder (DVR).
The ADB-5810WX supports both standard- and high-definition reception and MPEG-2 and H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding (AVC). The set-top box also supports a range of value added IP service such as Video-on-Demand and video conferencing, and can act as the ‘home server’ within a home entertainment network as it is compatible with Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol (DTCP-IP).
“We are delighted to announce that our IPTV digital recorder is ready for market,” said Michael Hawkey, Regional President of ADB North Americas. “It was critical, following the success of our initial roll-out of IPTV set-top boxes, that we offered Telcos an opportunity to further expand their revenues by offering them a product with an enhanced feature set for driving customer uptake and reducing churn – this new product will allow operators to expand their service portfolio and increase revenues, while providing their customers with a very attractive, personalised television service including high definition and digital video recording.”
The product is fitted with a 160Gb hard drive for content storage, and is compatible with a number of Conditional Access (CA), Digital Rights Management (DRM) and middleware options including Latens, Verimatrix and Widevine cardless CA and Minerva Networks’ iTVManager middleware platform.
